Who are you Matthew?
I've been working within the car industry for the last 7 years for Toyota, GM, BMW and some french and korea car manufacturers.
During that time I've worked in R&D and operations with worldwide teams in NA, Europe and Asia.
Following my practical approach of problem solving, I've written my first full scale problem solving book called "Powerful Solving".
What is this? Where am I?
This website is dedicated to support the book's readers and give some useful news to others about problem solving methods.
Matthew, why are you doing this?
Because I suffered from a lack of methodology in problem solving when I began to work in industries.
This was indeed one of my big surprises that despite a good engineering school (full of high mathematics and triple integrals), I was not prepared to be highly successful to solve problems in industries.
I fortunately learned by doing in a very competitive market (automotive) and discovered the rational methods that were used. I tried lost of them and following that experience, I decided to write "Powerful solving" so people can also have a "How-to" guide to problem solving.
What is the link with innovation ?
This of course relates to innovation as, behind each innovation, there is a problem that has been founded, stated and...solved !
Today there is lot's of buzz about innovation as this is the only way to differentiate and stand out from the crowd (and so improve margins).
I think we all have to be trained to problem solving methods as a requisite.
Who can use this method ?
From the student, professor, technician, engineer who need to solve practical problems, to project leader, facilitator, everybody working with or in a team to solve an issue.
This is a universal need.
